Native-Applied Brain Science Overview

Purpose: To assist teachers in deepening their own understanding of the science content they teach to their students by incorporating native science concepts through native pedagogy.

Goal: To engage teachers in first-hand learning about what they are expected to practice in their classrooms – guiding students through inquiry-based science activities.

Strategy: Using native science concepts and native approaches to teaching, NABS will provide teachers with intensive learning experiences to focus on teaching science in depth to native students. Teachers will participate in generating compelling questions and conducting investigations/research that allow them to make meaning out of the native process of pottery making. They will gain a deeper and broader view of the scientific concepts they are investigating and the native pedagogy they are experiencing.
