Viola Archuleta is originally from Santa Ana Pueblo, married to Leonard Archuleta of Taos Pueblo where she now resides. She has two daughters and two grandchildren. She has worked for Santa Fe Indian School for 14 years, formerly as a Social Studies teacher. She currently is a Curriculum Specialist for ITEST as well as the new Co-Principal Investigator/Project Director for the partner program New Mexico Tribal Coalition. Her work consists of working with teachers from the BIA Day schools, helping them with their professional development training to develop community-based education curricula with a math and science focus. Viola attended and graduated from New Mexico Highlands University where she received her BA in Secondary Education and her MA in Educational Administration. Her spare time is spent with her grandchildren and daughters, often returning to Santa Ana to visit her family. Her work and family keep her busy, but as her daughters observe, “She always does her best to give 100% to whatever she does. |
